Wildwood, Missouri, law enforcement has unveiled details of a week-long ordeal involving kidnapping, assault, and robbery. The incident, which took place in September 2024, led to multiple arrests and serious charges against three individuals. The quiet suburban community, located 30 miles west of St. Louis, became the center of an intensive police investigation that culminated in a dramatic chase and subsequent arrests.
Initial Contact
The incident began on September 12, 2024, when an acquaintance facilitated entry for Cejay Young into the victim’s Wildwood residence. According to USA TODAY, the situation quickly escalated when the victim discovered missing credit cards and cash from his wallet the following day. This seemingly minor theft marked the beginning of what would become a prolonged ordeal.
Escalation of Violence
The confrontation escalated when Young allegedly began physically assaulting the victim while brandishing a handgun. To prevent the woman from escaping, the suspect locked her to a restroom and threatened her with death. These activities represented a dramatic shift from stealing to violent criminality.
Property Damage and Theft
During the event, the criminal allegedly destroyed numerous electrical gadgets, including laptops and a television. Additional suspects arrived on the scene and stole a variety of stuff, including firearms, from the home.
Extended Captivity
Throughout the nearly week-long ordeal, the victim endured regular physical abuse and coercion. The suspect allegedly forced the victim to clean up their own blood after violent encounters and administered unauthorized medications to ensure compliance during nighttime hours.
Police Intervention
Law enforcement accidentally discovered the situation while investigating an unrelated matter on September 19. Upon arrival at the residence, they encountered the hostage situation and immediately called for backup support.
Suspect Pursuit
Following police arrival, Young attempted to flee the scene, triggering a three-hour pursuit before his eventual capture. During questioning, the suspect acknowledged his attempt to evade law enforcement.
Additional Suspects
Melissa Faix and Robert Crutcher, both 36 years old, face charges related to theft of two ATVs and a firearm from the victim’s property. Police later recovered these items at Crutcher’s residence.
Criminal Charges
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed multiple serious charges against Young, including first-degree kidnapping, assault, armed criminal action, and burglary. His alleged accomplices face various theft-related charges.
Bond Status
The court ordered Young to be held without bond, while Faix and Crutcher received $250,000 cash-only bonds. The severity of these bonds reflects the serious nature of the alleged crimes.
Legal Proceedings
As the case moves through the legal system, all three suspects await court proceedings. The investigation revealed the complex nature of the crime, involving multiple perpetrators and various criminal activities over an extended period.
